CONSOLIDATION, RESEARCH AND FUTURE VISION

In 2023, with the acquisition of additional key clients—including Alenia and Monarch—the firm reached a new level of financial stability, further consolidating its cash flow and long-term operational capacity.

Building on this solid foundation, SSBRO initiated a strategic collaboration with the Politehnica University of Timișoara, actively supporting academic research through the funding and sponsorship of a two-year Master’s program and a three-year PhD project.

The research activity focuses on the non-linear structural behavior of lattice girders, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to advanced engineering, innovation and knowledge transfer between industry and academia.

This milestone represents the transition toward a more mature phase of the firm’s development—one in which professional practice, industrial application and scientific research converge to shape the future of construction engineering.

AN INDEPENDENT OPERATIONAL HEADQUARTERS

After several years of steady growth—both for the firm and the market—it was time to take a decisive step forward with the opening of the studio’s independent operational headquarters.

In the same year, the team expanded to a stable core of three in-house professionals, marking the transition from an emerging structure to a consolidated and continuously growing engineering practice.

Since then, the firm has continued on a path of sustainable growth, strengthening its organizational structure, technical expertise, and presence within the market.

INDUSTRIAL PARTNERSHIPS AND LOCAL PRODUCTION

From this point onward, a strong and long-term collaboration was established.
The practical advantages and intrinsic safety margins of the adopted construction technologies provided a significant boost to the business, accelerating project delivery and reinforcing confidence among clients and contractors.

This momentum led to the establishment of local production facilities in Romania for lattice girders, followed by the opening of a Predalles floor slab production unit.
As part of this expansion, another important Italian industrial player entered the Romanian market: Ferramati International S.r.l.

The development of local manufacturing capabilities marked a strategic milestone, enabling the integration of Italian engineering know-how with on-site production, reducing lead times, optimizing costs, and supporting the scalable growth of industrialized construction solutions.

CONSOLIDATION AND EXPANSION

From that point on, Fri-El Building Romania became one of the firm’s key clients, to the extent that the launch of the first construction sites made it necessary to relocate the studio’s operational headquarters from Oradea to Timișoara, in order to ensure direct and continuous on-site support.

During the initial phase, the studio operated within Fri-El Building Romania’s premises, closely following the early stages of site setup and construction activities.
By the end of the same year, the need to engineer and manage a complex real estate development including a high-rise tower—again commissioned by Fri-El Building Romania—led to a new strategic collaboration.

At this stage, our path intersected with MetalRi, an established Italian manufacturer of lattice girders and prefabricated structural systems, a solid industrial company from Southern Italy likewise seeking expansion into new international markets.

This partnership marked an important step in strengthening the studio’s role in industrialized construction processes, reinforcing its capability to integrate design, engineering and prefabrication within large-scale projects.

A STRATEGIC ENCOUNTER

Following an extensive search across the Transylvania region—from Timișoara to Oradea and Cluj-Napoca—our path intersected with Fri-El Building Romania, at a pivotal moment for the development of a major new residential district on the outskirts of Timișoara: Ateneo Village.

This meeting marked a significant step forward for the studio, opening the door to a large-scale urban development project and confirming the strategic vision that had guided our expansion in the Romanian market.

Ateneo Village represented not only a new professional challenge, but also an opportunity to apply integrated engineering, cost-efficient construction solutions, and coordinated project management within a rapidly growing urban context.

THE FOUNDATIONS OF A PROJECT

The engineering firm was established in 2016 as the natural evolution of the founders’ professional background, built upon more than ten years of experience in Italy in the fields of architectural design, civil engineering (structures and MEP systems), and industrial engineering.

Although a young company, the firm is grounded in solid technical foundations, multidisciplinary expertise, and a forward-looking vision focused on innovation.

The decision to establish the company in Romania followed a careful market analysis, aimed at identifying contexts where rising labor costs were creating favorable conditions for the adoption of more efficient and industrialized construction systems, particularly prefabricated solutions for floor slabs.

At that time, Romania was experiencing a strong and rapid expansion of the construction sector, making it an ideal environment to develop and implement new engineering approaches.
The Romanian journey began in Oradea, the company’s headquarters, with the redesign of a high-rise building (S+P+8) using reinforced concrete and hollow-core floor slab systems manufactured by S.C. EUROPLANSEU S.r.l.

From this first project onward, the firm embarked on a growth path driven by the search for cost- and schedule-conscious clients, the development of qualified partnerships with designers and independent reviewers, and collaboration with construction companies open to innovation and change.
